This year's 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, which took place in front of a record crowd of 352,000 spectators, was won by the Winward Racing Team with their AMG GT3.
After 10 years, the Mercedes brand triumphed once again in the Green Hell. The driver lineup of Engel / Stolz / Schiller / Martin / Luca Stolz ultimately prevailed in the 24-hour sprint. Luca Stolz commented immediately after the race: „Thank God the pressure is off now. Back at the top after ten years. We knew we had what it takes. A brilliant day.“
The sister car, which was driven by, among others, four-time F1 World Champion Max Verstappen, led the race for a long time. However, it fell back due to a drive shaft failure.
Overall Rank 2 was secured by Team ABT with one of their Lamborghinis. Engstler / Bortolotti / Niederhauser managed to secure their position very narrowly ahead of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with Krognes / Drudi / Thiim / Fernandez Laser. Due to a violation, the ABT team was given an additional 82 penalty seconds after crossing the finish line. But the team from Kempten secured second place in the final meters, as the competing Aston Martin was held up in traffic, partly due to a yellow flag phase.
And so, the 54th ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring are already history, and we look forward to the next events and next year's 55th ADAC 24h Race at the Nürburgring.
