With the new Kremer Porsche CK7 Spyder, raw turbo power met uncompromising lightweight construction in the 1992 Interseries. Manuel Reuter drove the red sports prototype to a spectacular pole position at the Nürburgring, thus laying the foundation for an extraordinary season.

In the early 1990s, the Interserie was one of the fastest sports car racing series in Europe. At Int. ADAC Bilstein-Supersprint at the Nürburgring on May 17, 1992, the second round of the Interserie season, brought together high-performance Group C and sports prototypes. 26 vehicles started on the 3.029-kilometer Nürburgring circuit.

The one seen here Kremer Porsche CK7 Spyder was by Manuel Reuter used for Porsche Kremer. The open sports prototype was based on the Porsche 962 technology further developed by Kremer and featured a roughly 3.2-liter Porsche flat-six boxer engine with turbocharging and a mid-engine layout. The car bearing the start number 1 featured the characteristic red livery with Shell, Yokohama, Bilstein, and Bosch sponsorship and rolled on Yokohama racing tires.

Reuter already set a marker in practice and placed the CK7 with a time of 58,100 seconds and an average of 187,683 km/h to pole position. In the race, he only had to yield to Oscar Larrauri in the Joest-Porsche 962C. After 40 laps and 121.16 kilometers, Reuter was only missing 7.89 seconds on the winner. With a time of 58,410 seconds he also drove the fastest lap of the race.

Second place at the Nürburgring was the start of an impressive season for the new Kremer Spyder: Reuter subsequently won in Brands Hatch, Zolder, and Most, among other places, and secured at the end of the season the 1992 Interserie championship title. The photo thus shows one of the early racing appearances of a vehicle that developed into the dominant sports prototype of the Interseries within a few months.
