Kremer Historic Racing Moments

A total of 266 prints, each featuring one of eight historic racing motifs, are now available exclusively through the magazine “Historischer Motorsport CURBS” under the title “Kremer Historic Racing Moments.”

The first of the eight planned racing designs bears the descriptive title “Winner John Fitzpatrick / Kremer Porsche 935 K3 / Zolder 1980.” This project was born out of a collaboration between former racing team owner and team manager Manfred Kremer, automotive expert Alexander Trojan, and automotive designer and artist Rolf Schepp. Featuring globally recognizable examples of magnificent motorsport history, these designs bring to life unique scenes from a magnificent era with Manfred and Erwin Kremer, who led the most successful racing team in the world.

The Kremer Era

The limited edition of these unique works of art has a poignant story behind it. “266” stands for the birthdate of the late brother Erwin Kremer, who was born on June 26, 1937, and passed away on September 27, 2006, at the age of 69. He was known as the “Grand Seigneur of Porsche Racing” and had contributed greatly to the sport since the founding of the Porsche Kremer Racing Team in 1962. The Kremer brothers were deeply committed both on and off the racetrack. At the time, they specialized in the Porsche brand and quickly achieved their first milestones. These included, for example, victory in the 1968 European Touring Car Championship in a Porsche. Erwin Kremer initially drove his race cars himself. But new drivers, such as John Fitzpatrick and Bob Wollek, brought about the breakthrough in the mid-1980s. The list of drivers employed by Kremer reads like a “Who’s Who” of the most important drivers of that era. By then, the Kremer brothers were exclusively the masterminds behind the drivers’ victories and led a racing team that would eventually prove to be the most successful racing team in the world.

Goodbye, cockpit – Hello, production

With their retirement from racing, the Kremer brothers now had much more time to focus on developing new prototypes. In 1977, Kremer developed their in-house-built 935 K2 Monoturbo, which unfortunately failed to secure victory in the German Racing Championship. But they didn’t give up and completely reshuffled the deck in 1979—to their advantage. With their 935 K3, they dominated the German Racing Championship and achieved worldwide fame with their victory at the “24 Hours of Le Mans.” By this point at the latest, Kremer, with their unique flair for car building and organization, had become one of the leading names in motorsports. The Porsche 935 K3 has since been dubbed the “miracle car.” A total of 14 orders were placed after the season for this unique speedster from the Kremer racing team. They developed further prototypes, such as the K4, K7, and K8, which were equipped with increasingly larger engines and sophisticated aerodynamic lightweight construction. Another highlight came in 1995 at Daytona, when a Kremer Spyder dominated the 24-hour race. In 1999, the Kremer brothers parted ways, and the racing team has since become increasingly involved in historic motorsports.

Facts About the Artistic Tribute

The images are printed in high resolution on aluminum-Dibond panels and numbered by Manfred Kremer and Rolf Schepp, with each piece hand-signed at the end of the production run. To produce these fascinating works, Rolf Schepp uses a computer to transform a simple hand-drawn sketch into an expressive image. It is important to note that all details are painted on the computer, and that this new medium—the computer—merely supports a new form of the artist’s creativity; no templates are copied in. After the production of all 266 copies, the creators assure that the data files and print templates will be destroyed. The prints are sold exclusively through the online shop www.curbs-magazin.com/shop of the magazine “Historischer Motorsport CURBS” or via distribution by “VISSER TRADING – I. Trojan.” The retail price is €952.00 including VAT, and shipping within Germany is free. Shipping will be arranged upon receipt of payment. Additionally, each copy comes with a certificate. The certificate and certificate number correspond to the individual image number, which serves as proof of authenticity. Also included are details about the limited edition size, the motif and artwork name, as well as the producers, who deserve special credit for bringing this project to life. The following 7 motifs are accompanied by CURBS. We will keep you, our readers, up to date and provide you with exclusive access to all new information regarding “Kremer Historic Racing Moments.”
