Mercedes-AMG has provided further insights into the future of its GT program, confirming that both a new GT3 race car and a particularly extreme Black Series version are currently under development. Both models are based on the „Concept AMG GT Track Sport,“ which was previously unveiled and serves as the technological foundation for the upcoming generation of vehicles.
The concept vehicle plays a dual role: On the one hand, it forms the basis for the next GT3 customer sports car. On the other hand, it serves as the starting point for a new Black Series that is designed for maximum performance like never before. The road version is also necessary for the homologation of the GT3 model, as race cars in this class must be based on production vehicles.
A prototype has been undergoing intensive testing since autumn 2025. Test drives took place at tracks including Immendingen, Bilster Berg, Portimão, and Monteblanco. The testing phase on the Nürburgring Nordschleife has also begun. The vehicle's striking camouflage paint scheme also has a meaning: red will represent the GT3 race car in the future, while yellow-green will mark the Black Series variant.
The new GT3 will represent the third generation of Mercedes-AMG's customer sports car. Following the SLS AMG GT3 from 2011 and the current AMG GT3, which has been in use since 2016 and was revised in 2020, the upcoming model is expected to set new standards in performance and competitiveness. Technical details are scarce so far, but a V8 turbo engine and a carbon monocoque construction are expected.
In parallel, AMG is working on a new Black Series, which continues the tradition of particularly radical road sports cars. This model series has stood for years for the close connection between motorsport technology and road-legal performance.
A specific launch date for the new GT3 model has not yet been announced. However, it is clear that Mercedes-AMG intends to continue playing a leading role in both motorsport and on the road.
