PROsport Racing looks back on a phase of intensive future planning and gave an outlook on structural changes and the upcoming racing season an hour ago. Team founder Chris Esser has announced that he is handing over the operational management of the team to younger hands and will act in an advisory capacity in future. The announcement of the new team principal is planned for the coming weeks. In addition, there will be changes to the shareholder structure that will open up positive prospects for the team in the future.
PROsport Racing is also opening a new chapter in sporting terms. Following the end of the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 era, the team is switching to Mercedes-AMG. With the Mercedes-AMG GT4 Evo, the team will compete in endurance races on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife as well as in an attractive GT4 sprint series. As in previous years, the GT Winter Series will once again serve as a platform for forming high-performance driver pairings for the sprint sector. The aim remains to continue the successful track record in the GT4 segment – six GT4 championship titles and numerous podium finishes to date.
PROsport Racing will also be relying on Mercedes-AMG in the GT3 sector in future. A Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo is already ready for use at the team’s headquarters in Wiesemscheid. The vehicle is not new territory for the Nürburgring team: PROsport Racing already won the overall 24H Series classification with this model in 2018 and finished on the podium in all races of the season. Possible deployment programs are currently being examined, and the team is generally open to suitable racing projects.
For PROsport Racing, the switch to Mercedes-AMG is a logical consequence of their previous technical experience and the proximity of the vehicle concepts. The anticipation of the upcoming races with the AMG models is correspondingly high.
The two Aston Martin Vantage GT3s, which were most recently used primarily in the Nürburgring endurance series, will remain in the fleet and are set to compete on the Nordschleife again in 2026. The vehicle portfolio will be supplemented by the Porsche Cayman Pro4, which will continue to be used occasionally and has a special emotional value for the team.
PROsport Racing will publish further details on the racing program at a later date. The successful activities of PROsport Classic in historic motorsport and PROsport SimRacing in virtual racing will also continue unchanged.
