The motorsport world bids farewell to Andreas Schall from Dornstadt, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly this week.
For many decades, Schall shaped endurance racing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The entrepreneur from the Swabian Jura, who ran his own Mercedes-Benz dealership, was primarily known for his involvement with the Mercedes 190 Evo, which he piloted for many years together with his son. However, he also left a lasting impression on fans and companions with vehicles like the Ford Escort MK II and later in the Opel Astra DTM.
In approximately 50 active years in motorsports, Andreas Schall achieved impressive successes, including five overall victories and 98 class victories on the Nordschleife. Particularly formative was the 27-year joint racing career with his son Ralf.
He recently retired from active racing and followed events in a quieter role. However, his passion for motorsport lived on in the family: while his son remains closely involved in the scene, his grandchildren Janina at the Nürburgring and Matteo in karting are also gaining their first experiences.
Andreas Schall will be remembered as a dedicated motorsports enthusiast and a formative personality.
Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and all who loved him.
