The 39th “LKW FRIENDS on the road” Jännerrallye powered by WIMBERGER once again set new standards in Austrian rallying in 2026. On spectacular 18 selective special stages around Freistadt, the international drivers battled for victory on snow and ice in front of a large audience.
The overall winner of the FIA and ORM round was Simon Wagner / Hanna Ostlender (Hyundai i20 N Rally2), who were the first team to cross the finish line after 02:06:15.6 hours, finally securing the long-awaited triumph at the “Jänner”. This was a special success for the Austrian national champion: “I really wanted this victory for a long time – it was a tough fight, but our team worked perfectly,” said Wagner after crossing the finish line.
Michael Lengauer / Jürgen Rausch (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) followed in second place with a gap of 1:10.5 minutes, followed by Mads Østberg / Sergiu Itu (Citroën C3 Rally2) in third place. This also showed that the international competition was at a high level.
“The conditions were extremely challenging – snow, ice and temperatures at the limit. So I’m all the more pleased that so many fans came and cheered us on,” said Wagner, commenting on the weekend.
There were also exciting duels and close times in the other classes, which once again underlined the diversity and attractiveness of the Jännerrallye.
The organizers draw a positive conclusion and would like to thank all participants and the numerous fans for a first-class rally weekend in the Mühlviertel.
