Hans-Joachim Stuck turns 75.

Former race car driver Hans-Joachim Stuck celebrates his 75th birthday today. He is one of the best-known and most successful personalities in German and international motorsport and looks back on an exceptionally versatile career that spanned several decades.

Born on January 1, 1951, racing was practically in his blood: His father, Hans Stuck Sr., was already a big name in motorsport in the 1930s. However, Hans-Joachim Stuck quickly developed his own profile and established himself as a top driver in various racing series starting in the 1970s.

After initial successes in formula racing and touring cars, Stuck competed in Formula 1 between 1974 and 1979. He achieved international recognition and lasting success primarily in endurance and touring car racing. With Porsche, he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice (1986 and 1987), becoming part of one of the brand's most formative sports car eras.

Furthermore, Stuck celebrated multiple overall victories at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, one of the most demanding long-distance races in the world. He also set standards in touring car racing: in 1990, he won the German Touring Car Championship (DTM). He also won the BMW Procar Series for itself, in which Formula 1 drivers and touring car specialists competed against each other on identical material.

Characteristic of Hans-Joachim Stuck were his precise driving style, his technical expertise, and his ability to consistently and reliably push vehicles to their limits over long distances. These qualities made him a sought-after factory driver and a defining figure in international motorsport.

After the end of his active racing career, Stuck remained closely involved in motorsport. As a brand ambassador, advisor, and commentator, he continues to contribute his experience and passion to this day and enjoys high regard in the scene.

On the occasion of his 75th birthday, the motorsport world honors a personality who has decisively shaped and internationally represented German racing for decades.
