The R26 Concept marks the dawn of a new era

Audi presented the design with which the brand will enter Formula 1 in 2026 for the first time at the Brand Experience Center in Munich. The Audi R26 Concept provides a concrete preview of the visual and technological appearance of the works team in the premier class – and is emblematic of the brand’s transformation.

“Entering Formula 1 is the next step in Audi’s repositioning,” explains CEO Gernot Döllner. “We want to win – but with a clear, realistic plan. A top team is not created overnight, but through perseverance, precision and team spirit.”

The R26 Concept embodies Audi’s new design philosophy with the design principles of clear, technical, intelligent and emotional. The color concept combines titanium, carbon black and the new Audi red. The iconic four rings appear in red for the first time – as a symbol of courage and determination.

Under the management of Mattia Binotto and Jonathan Wheatley, the new works team is preparing intensively for its debut. With Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto, Audi is relying on a mixture of experience and young talent.

The entry comes at a time of major technical upheaval: from 2026, the regulations will stipulate more electric power and sustainable e-fuels – perfect conditions for the entry of a manufacturer whose brand essence is ” Vorsprung durch Technik”.

With over 820 million fans worldwide, Formula 1 offers a stage that no other racing series has – and Audi uses it to shape the future of the brand: precise, uncompromising and emotional.
