Mick Schumacher, son of Michael Schumacher, announced on social media yesterday that he will no longer be competing for the Alpine Endurance Team in the FIA WEC in the 2026 season. After two successful years with Alpine, in which he finished on the podium three times, the 26-year-old expressed his gratitude for their time together: “I learned so much, both on and off the track.”
Schumacher started out in formula racing, winning Formula 3 in 2018 and Formula 2 in 2020 before driving for Haas in Formula 1 in 2021 and 2022. After a transition year, he switched to the Sports Car World Championship with Alpine in 2024, where he was able to hold his own in the French hypercar program.
There is already speculation about a future career move: There are rumours of a move to Cadillac in the WEC or a commitment to IndyCar, although Schumacher himself emphasizes his passion for formula racing.
