Mercedes-AMG: New GT3 racing car and Black Series announced

Home · Mercedes-AMG: New GT3 racing car and Black Series announced

Mercedes-AMG has provided further insight into the future of its GT program and confirmed that both a new GT3 race car and a particularly extreme Black Series version are currently being developed. Both models are based on the previously unveiled “Concept AMG GT Track Sport”, which serves as the technological basis for the next generation of vehicles.

The concept car plays a dual role: on the one hand, it forms the basis for the next GT3 customer sports car and, on the other, it serves as the starting point for a new Black Series, which is to be designed for maximum performance more than ever before. The road version is also necessary for the homologation of the GT3 model, as racing cars in this class must be based on production vehicles.

A prototype has been undergoing intensive testing since the fall of 2025. Test drives have taken place on tracks such as Immendingen, Bilster Berg, Portimão and Monteblanco. The test phase on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife has now also begun. The eye-catching camouflage livery of the vehicle also has a meaning: in future, red will stand for the GT3 racing car, while yellow-green indicates the Black Series variant.

The new GT3 will be the third generation of the Mercedes-AMG customer sports car. Following the SLS AMG GT3 from 2011 and the current AMG GT3, which has been in use since 2016 and was revised in 2020, the upcoming model is set to set new standards in performance and competitiveness. Technical details are still scarce, but a V8 turbo engine and a design with a carbon monocoque are expected.

At the same time, AMG is working on a new Black Series that continues the tradition of particularly radical road sports cars. For years, this model series has stood for the close combination of motorsport technology and road-legal performance.

A specific date for the market launch of the new GT3 model has not yet been given. However, it is clear that Mercedes-AMG intends to continue to play a leading role both in motorsport and on the road.
