Growing up next to Berlin’s motor racing track Avus I fell in love with racing at the tender age of eight at a time motor races where not a popular thing on German TV programs and got a coverage of a few minutes at the most. In the Seventies I was blessed to witness Formula One during my summer vacation in Austria’s beautiful Styria on its local TV channel. Remembering those pictures remains an unbroken beauty for me. The fascination for the magic of the race cars would stay with me throughout my life. The rise and early death of the young Jochen Rindt was a shock not only to the nation but especially left a deep mark on me. In Monza my first idol died. Later Stefan Bellof would follow.
The 24 hours of LeMans or the Northern Green Hell of the Nürburgring have always been and still remain magic places for me. Classical racing tracks like these give my life the real meaning. Despite the noisy and brutal roaring of the motors it gives me a deep balance and inner peace. Experiencing moments like these is my motivation to travel no matter how far, rain or shine to produce and publish these pictures. I do believe that any motor sports enthusiast but also any other beholder can share these emotions looking at these images shown here. Only these words are able to describe my life’s motto perfectly:
„Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting!” (Michael Delany)
