The 2016 Concorso d\u2019Eleganza Villa d\u2019Este continues to take shape. At its final meeting of 2015, the Selecting Committee responsible for choosing participants in the classic car beauty contest defined two additional categories. This means that nearly all the stops on this journey through time have now been finalized. Under the motto \u201eBack to the Future \u2013 the Journey continues,\u201c BMW Group Classic and the Grand Hotel Villa d\u2019Este are inviting owners and enthusiasts of rare two- and four-wheeled vehicles to Cernobbio on Lake Como, Italy, from May 20 to 22, 2016. The two additional categories, \u201eGT Man is back \u2013 The golden era of sports car design, 1950\u20131975,\u201c will feature exclusive examples of the Gran Turismo vehicle class, which is particularly popular in Europe, while \u201eDriven by excess \u2013 Cars of the Studio 54 era, 1975\u20131986\u201c will spotlight the automobiles of the disco era, characterized by extravagance in technology and design. Eight vehicle classes have now been confirmed for the 2016 Concorso d\u2019Eleganza Villa d\u2019Este. \u201eRally cars \u2013 Heroes of the special stage, 1955 \u2013 1985\u201c features spectacular competition vehicles from three decades of rally racing. \u201eDaring to be different \u2013 Design that pushed the envelope\u201c offers examples of particularly bold, often controversial, and at the same time groundbreaking innovations in the fields of design and technology. One-off vehicles, primarily crafted for particularly discerning clients during the 1920s through the 1950s, can be discovered under the title \u201eSur mesure et haute couture \u2013 One-offs for the connoisseur.\u201c Two additional categories are dedicated to rarities from the pre-war era. \u201ePre-war decadence \u2013 Flights of automotive fantasy\u201c highlights vehicles that reflect the extravagant luxury of the 1920s and 1930s, while \u201ePre-war supercars \u2013 The Fast and the Flamboyant\u201c embodies the pursuit of peak performance and the thrill of speed that was equally defining for this era. \u201eCars of the stars \u2013 From the silver screen to the studio lot\u201c features vehicles whose history is closely linked to cinema, having either played a leading role in well-known films or been owned by silver-screen heroes.
